We’re excited about Pioneer Days coming in March

Filed under: Uncategorized — oregonareacommbook @ 1:48 pm

The Oregon Area Historical Society supports students in the Oregon Wisconsin School District by providing pioneer clothing for their “pioneer days” projects and studies.  Fourth grade students and teachers are outfitted with pioneer costumes made and maintained by OAHS volunteers.

Over 2,600 students have been outfitted with pioneer costumes since 2003.

We’ll be collecting the story of Pioneer Days for the Oregon Area Community Book as events unfold on March 17-18 2010.

What a great way to connect past, present and future in Oregon!

Please let me know if you have anything you’d like to include in the Volunteers Meeting agenda for our meeting 2/17.

So far, I have:

  1. Liaisons’ reports
  2. Questionnaire (proposed at 2/3 meeting): suggestions to improve the questions? Distribution strategy.
  3. OACB Blog: How to use it, who’ll take responsibility for checking the “info” email, oacb53575@gmail.com.

What else shall we discuss?

Spread the word: OACB is collecting Oregon’s past, present & future

Filed under: Uncategorized — oregonareacommbook @ 4:53 pm

We’re spreading the word about the Oregon Area Community Book. On February 12th members of the “book team” will be at the Oregon Senior Center at 10:15 to tell area seniors about the book project. We’ll talk for 10 minutes, before the Living History presentation gets underway.

Do you know of any Oregon Area groups that would like to hear about the book project? Let us know. We can present anything from a quick 10-minute overview to an in-depth program.

We need project volunteers and participants. Help us get the word out!
